I recently spent time exploring what really works for sharing design portfolios. The first platform I tried had a clunky interface that slowed everything down. The results were underwhelming at best. What became clear is that random collections don't impress experienced viewers.

When I narrowed down to only finished projects the response was night and day. Showing rough sketches alongside polished finals gave my work much more credibility. Including every concept draft only confused people who saw the gallery. It felt painful to delete hours of work, but the overall effect was cleaner.

Another useful step was asking a few experienced designers to review my selection. What they emphasized was the need for storytelling around each piece. Their critique helped me reframe the whole display as a problem-solving showcase.

Now my page contains just a handful of pieces yet every visit leads to a conversation. I stopped chasing fancy effects and focused instead on clarity. If you are struggling with your portfolio try cutting your current selection in half.
